Governance Of The Network

Co-Chairing: the network members adopted the co-chairing method of governance. Two organisations are elected to serve as co-chairs of which one is an international organisation and the other a national organisation. The network is currently co-chaired by Crest Research and Development Institute (CRADI).

Criteria for Co-chairing: this is based on the mandate of the organisation, experience of the organisation in peace building and governance and the commitment of the individuals representing the organisation.

  • Length of Term (Tenure): The tenure for co-chairing is two (2) years.
  • Co-chairs Roles: they help to facilitate meetings, group’s processes and move the work forward, but decisions are made collectively by members.

He/she responds to inquiries from the public, clients, and stakeholders, providing timely and accurate information.

Meetings

Meetings are held every 4-6 weeks. Duration is 2-3 hours and often a working meeting. Instead of dividing up work and reporting back, we aim to do as much collective work as possible in the meetings because all members also have full time responsibilities in their organizations. If you cannot attend a meeting, or miss a few meetings due to other commitments, this does not prevent you from attending again in the future. You are always welcome to attend again as you are able. It is great to have consistent participation, but we recognize everyone is busy.

How is chairing of meetings organised

The PSN staff and the Co-chairs will be responsible for chairing and facilitating the meetings. Agenda’s will be shared to members to make input by the Co-chair or staff of the PSN days before the meeting.

Note-taking and reporting back to the group

The reports or minutes of the meeting will be taken by the co-chair and inputs made by the PSN staff which will later be shared to other members by the Co-chairs.

Meeting Platform

Currently meetings happen virtually through skype group calls, but before COVID 19, meetings were in person and were rotational between members to ensure ownership. We hope to return to this when possible.

Action points after meetings

Share emails, advice on when/where the next meeting is scheduled to hold.
